President’s Message - Rotary Year 2025-26

Rotary Club of Tauranga Sunrise

Kia ora Rotarians, friends, and community partners,

It is a privilege and honour to serve as President of the Tauranga Sunrise Rotary Club for the 2025-26 Rotary year. As we step into this new chapter together, we are guided by Rotary International’s inspiring theme, “Unite for Good.” This call to action reminds us that our strength lies not just in our individual talents, but in what we can achieve when we work together - with each other, with our community, and with partners near and far.

My vision for the year is clear: to raise the profile and image of our club within our community so that more people know who we are, what we do, and the positive impact we create. We have an incredible story to tell - one of fellowship, service, and dedication - and I believe this is the year we will share it more boldly than ever before.

Why Raise Our Profile?
Our projects, from youth development initiatives to environmental sustainability efforts, already make a real difference. But by increasing visibility, we can attract new members, inspire more volunteers, and build stronger connections with businesses, schools, and community groups. A higher profile means more opportunities to serve - and more people benefiting from our work.

How We Will Achieve This

  1. Community Engagement - We will participate in high-visibility community events, not just as supporters but as active contributors and organisers. Our presence should be seen and felt.
  2. Media & Storytelling - We will use local media, social platforms, and our own networks to share success stories - celebrating the people and communities we serve.
  3. Strategic Partnerships - Collaborating with other service organisations, local councils, and business groups will allow us to leverage resources and expand our reach.
  4. Signature Events - We will enhance our existing events and introduce at least one new signature project that will become synonymous with Tauranga Sunrise Rotary in the community’s mind.

Living the Theme - Unite for Good
Raising our profile is not just about recognition it’s about connection. “Unite for Good” encourages us to find common purpose across differences and to harness our diversity for greater impact. Whether it is helping a local school, supporting an environmental cause, or contributing to global humanitarian efforts, the goal is the same: to unite our talents, resources, and hearts in service to others.

Our Strength - Our People
Our club is built on the commitment and passion of our members. Each of you brings unique skills, experiences, and perspectives. Together, we can create a welcoming, vibrant club culture that not only supports current members but attracts new ones who share our vision.

This year is an opportunity to show Tauranga - and the wider Bay of Plenty - that Tauranga Sunrise Rotary is a dynamic force for good. Let’s be proud of who we are, share our successes, and invite others to join us on this journey.

Together, let us Unite for Good - raising our profile, deepening our impact, and making 2025–26 a year to remember.

Yours in Rotary,

Shiv Thammalla
