Tuesday 12th November our morning meeting was changed to an evening meeting where 7 members ventured into the Remuera Golf Club venue to support District 9920 - Rotary Youth Extravaganza Programs and Scholarships Event. This event was the inaugural event representing alumni and graduates from a range of Youth programmes spanning the last 3-5 years.
RYLA (Rotary Youth Leader Awards) Alumni organised and hosted the evening on behalf of the District Youth Committee and the Rotary Club of New Market.
The programme showcased speakers from the following programmes:
· Interact – Secondary School Student lead projects
· RYPEN – Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment
· RYDA – Rotary Youth Driver Awareness
· MUNA – Model United Nations Assembly
· REP – Reading Enrichment Programme
· Rotary National Science and Technology Forum
· IYE – Rotary International Youth Exchange
· WALSH School – Rotary Flying Scholarships
· Chenery Scholar – New Market Rotary Trust supported
· Environmental Award UOA – New Market Rotary Trust supported
· MAPAS - Māori and Pacific Admission Scheme – UOA - New Market Rotary Trust supported
Each of these speakers spoke of their experiences and how these programs had made to their lives and their futures. The were amazing ambassadors of the positive impact of Rotary in shaping our future leaders.
